Bad blogger! Bad!
Soooo, yeah. I’m a bad blogger. And I really have no excuse except for that I’m a moody creature sometimes, and I haven’t recently felt like writing. I don’t have any real knitting content for you guys, (well, I did finish something, but I’m not posting it until I weave in those ends!) So we are going to have a shift in our regular programming. In fact, I’m going to do something that I have been thinking about for a while, but had to wait to implement until I found just the right subject.
So, without any more ado, I bring you.. Book Reviews! I know that is kindof a weird topic for a knitting blog, but here’s why I’m doing this. I almost always read when I’m knitting, if it’s not too complicated a project. It may seem like multitasking to an extreme, but I like it. Most knitting projects don’t really keep the mind busy, and reading certainly does that for me. So the two things are inextricably linked in my mind. It just seems natural to share the really good (and maybe not so good) books I read here on the blog. It also gives you a chance to know me better, because I think there’s no better way to get a peek into someone else’s mind than to peruse their bookshelf. The first book I’m going to review is The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress, by Robert Heinlein. It’s one I’ve been meaning to get to for a while, and still underestimated how good it was going to be. I just finished it, so I still need a few days to gather my thoughts, but I’ll be excited to share them with you guys

I know what you mean about knitting not really engaging the mind. Though some people praise this aspect of knitting because it allows for a passive kind of meditation and helps you relax.
I generally stream Netflix or something while I’m knitting because its one thing that I don’t need hands to participate in. I would love to read but I can’t think of how that would work efficiently. Do you use an e-reader of some kind? Seems like it would be a pain to stop knitting and turn the page every couple of minutes.
I have both a Kindle and an iPhone that I read on. Sometimes to read a “real” book I’ll find a way to prop it open on my lap, but this is usually an effort that’s doomed to failure
Book reviews is a great idea although I don’t think I could knit and read at the same time

Hey, just stumbled across your blog and love your writing. Same here, btw, it’s always a contest between whether I should be reading or knitting or reading or knitting (I cannot really do both, especially not when I am really hooked on a book and have to knit some pattern socks that are changing their pattern in every row). So, I’ll be looking forward to your reviews.
